Torres del Paine National Park

On leaving Puerto Natales, the Señoret Channel is boarder lined, where the black necks swans are abundant. And at only 20 kilometers away, there is a fork that leads to the Cave of Milodon. The road passes by several country houses as far as reaching the Sofia Lagoon and Figueroa Lagoon, special places for fishing. Then, between Castillo and Campana hills, there appear the mounts corresponding to massif of the Paine.

The massif of the Paine is increasingly seen near with the blue and violet shades of the gullies, which that gave to the origin of the name Paine: in the Tehuelche dialect, it means blue.

At kilometer 61, you can reach Castillo mount, a cattle - raising village where there is a police post, settled for assisting the frontier pass of Cancha Carrera. In the place, there is hostelry, a medical post, a grocery store and a runway for the landing of small airplanes.

The road ahead starts to boarder line the journey of River of the Chinas as far as the entrance to the Park.

At the entrance of the Park, at the gate is a park ranger that will provide all information and will offer a detailed map of the zone. That is why, there are several possible journeys. The park has camping and lodgings sites.


Tour Site Attractions:

Among the most interesting picnicking places and journeys, the following can be mentioned:

- A journey as far as Grey glazier, to reach which one has to boarder line the lake of the same name, where one can see big ice blocks pushed by the wind.
- A journey to Amarga Lagoon and Blue Lagoon.
- Trekking, going around the Macizo del Paine, lodging in several sheds that there are in the park.
- A horse - back riding to Toro Lagoon.
- Trekking and Mountain Bike circuit.
- Sailing on Grey Lagoon.

There are seven nurseries all along intercommunicated among them and the Administration Seat of the Park, where picnics can be organized on foot or horseback, camping, ascensions, fishing, and so on.

This park had been declared reserve of the Bio-sphere by UNESCO.

How to get to the Torres del Paine National Park

The Torres del Paine National Park is situated in Chile s Region XII, among the massif of the Los Andes Mountain Range and the Patagonian steppes, in Ultima Esperanza Province, community of Torres del Paine.

Access roads

The Torres del Paine National Park is open all year round and is administered by the National Forestry Commission (CONAF) The access doors are about 115 kilometers from Puerto Natales. The Sarmiento and Laguna Amarga entry doors are open from 8.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m., all year round.
