Conguillio - Las Paragua National Park.

Its deep valleys and steep slopes covered with araucarias show great scars produced by the lava flow of Llaima volcano, which rises in the middle.

One of its lava flows blocked the drainage of Sierra Nevada some centuries ago and thus Conguillio Lake was created.

In its deep crystal clear waters one can still see the standing trunks of the trees flooded in that period.

Divided into Los Paraguas and Conguillio sections, the park is optimal for walks, bird - watching, fishing or simply the enjoyment of the view of the landscape and the lakes.

Guided excursions, climbing, flora and fauna watching, picture taking, boat sailing can be had, and in winter, in Los Paraguas section one can practice winter sports.

Conguillio lake a real paradise for those who practice sporting fishing in Verde, Captren and Arco Iris Lagoons.

Huerquehue National Park.

It has an area of 12.500 hectares

Seated at the altitudes east of Caburgua Lake, this park offers one of the best short circuits for walking of all the regions, besides the spectacular views towards Villarrica volcano and the surrounding village. The park has an environmental information center and camping areas.

At the entrance is Tinquilco Lake surrounded by steep slopes covered with native woods. The beaches are few and very small, but with crystal clear waters and agreeable temperatures.

Activities like woods watching in Caburgua and Tinquilco lakes. Also taking the picture of the panoramic views of Villarrica, Quetrupillan, Lanin and Llaima volcanoes.

Sporting fishing can be practiced, swimming, boat sails, climbing and photography. It has camping and picnic areas on the banks of Tinquilco Lake.

Conguillio National Park.

It is located 25 kilometers north of Melipeuco.

Llaima volcano and its skiing center predominate, together with the mountain range landscape with abundant vegetation, lakes and lagoons. There are camping sites.

This park belongs to the community of Melipeuco and Vilcun. For an access it has the following choices:

The Cajon road to Llaima Volcano (66 kilometers).
Caracautin road to Conguillio (42 kilometers).
Melipeuco road to Conguillio (25 kilometers).

It has an area of 60.832 hectares.

The park has a guest center and different footpaths take walks.

Nahuelbuta National Park.

It is located 35 kilometers west of Angol.

The presence of araucarias as a predominant species is outstanding. It has an information center, a small flora and fauna museum for camping and picnicking.

It has an area of 6.832 hectares. It is endowed with a 30 kilometers road network for light - weight vehicles, 15 kilometers of footpaths and lookers out.

Las Totoras lagoon, Las Tuberas, La Piedra del Aguila among others are outstanding.

Villarrica National Park.

It is located 12 kilometers south of Pucon.

Villarrica volcano and the skiing center of the same name are outstanding next to a mountain range landscape of rich and varied flora and fauna.

An important wilderness area protected by the State. It has an area of 65.400 hectares.

With abrupt and irregular relief influenced by Lanin (3.870 meters), Villarrica (2.840 meters) and Quetrupillan (2.382 meters) volcanoes.

It has camp areas, picnicking sites, excursion footpaths, and an information center.

Villarrica volcano is one of the mostly known areas for the public use as a skiing center and a cafeteria of private management are here.

The park comprises the communities of Villarrica, Pucon, Curarrehue and Panguipulli. Besides the Blanco, Azul, Abutardas and Quillelhue volcanoes.

Tolhuaca National Park.

It is located 45 kilometers north of Caracautin

A great attraction for the nature beauty of the landscape and its wild flora and fauna. It has 5 footpaths of interpretation and excursion, a picnicking and camping area.

With an area of 6.378 hectares it comprises the communities of Caracautin and Collipulli.

It has a mild cold humid climate, characterized for the scarcity of parched periods.

Huerquehue National Park.

It is located 35 kilometers northeast of Pucon.

It is characterized for its broken topography and for being located in one of the most attractive zones of this region.

It has an area of 12.500 hectares.

Its broken area has allowed the formation of 20 lagoons supplied by springs, rivers and beach mats than descend from the summits.

It is possible to visit it only in the summer time.

Activities like woods watching, Caburgua and Tinquilco lakes watching, taking pictures of the panoramic views of Villarrica, Quetrupillan, Lanin and Llaima volcanoes.

Sporting fishing can be practiced, swimming, sailing on boats, climbing and photography. It has camping and picnicking sites on Tinquilco lake banks. It has also an environmental information center.

Malalcahuello National Reserve.

It is located 38 kilometers east of Caracautin.

It has an area of 31.260 hectares. The mayor attraction is Lonquimay volcano and its winter center.

This reserve belongs to Lonquimay and Caracautin communities. It is outstanding for its flora and fauna, like: the coigue, rauli and the araucarias. The culpeo fox, the chingue, the pudu and the puma.

Lican Ray Spa.

Located 25 kilometers away from Villarrica, Lican Ray is the main spa of Calafquen Lake.

Its beach Grande with volcanic sand, is one of the best of the region.

In summer, the same as the whole town, it gets a lot of tourists.

With approximately about 2.000 inhabitants, it has been able to place itself as one of the favorite targets in this region for spending their summer for both national and foreign visitors.

It is an interesting boulevard along the banks toward the east. At some 7 kilometers away from the city, a lava flow can be seen which came down from Villarrica during an eruption in 1971. The lake is fit for sailing with its quiet waters and several islands.

Lauca National Park.

It is located 140 kilometers northeast of Arica.

The zone of Lauca National Park comprises an area of a large cultural tradition temporarily initiated 3.000 years ago, after hunting collectors trekked over this zone for milleniums.

The Inkan dominion notably influenced in this area. The presence of Tambos is a proof of it.

It is located in Parinacota province, a community of Putre.

It has an area of 137.883 hectares.

On the relief the Parinacota (6.342 meters), the Pomerape (6.282 meters), and the Guallatire volcanoes are predominant.

Mounts and snow capped peaks, like the Tarapaca, Guane Guane, Quisiquisine and Quimsahatas. They drain its surface rivers Lauca and Lluta, also to the Cotacotani lagoons and Chungara Lake, one of the highest all over the world.

As to its fauna, for its abundance and diversity and the easy watching is a great attraction.

The volcanic forms outstand: among them are Parinacota (6.342 m.a.s.l.), Pomerape Volcano (6.282 m.a.s.l.), Guallative Volcano (6.060 m.a.s.l.) and Acotango Mount (6.050 m.a.s.l.).
