Eastern Island
This Magical Island that in the native language is called Rapa Nui can only be
reached by plane. The island is formed by three extinct volcanos triangular is
shape, of 160 Km. of extension.
It has a hot tropical climate during all year round. The major fresh water comes
from the rainwater accumulated in the lakes and craters.
Its mysterious archeological pieces, among which the huge stone sculptures called
"moais" are outstanding that have called the curiosity for their unknown origin,
their size, their dimension and their quantity, besides the distance along which
they must have been transported form the quarries as far as the places where they
were erected.
Eastern Island is the most isolated place that man may step on. At present the
island is inhabited by a small number of Polynesian-origin inhabitants who speak
their own language: Paskan. They also adopted the Spanish language.
