XIV Region of Los Ríos
The XVI Region of Los Ríos is one of the fifteen regions of Chile.
Because of its location, at north it borders on IX Region of the Araucanía, at south on X Region of Los Lagos, at east on Argentina and at west on the Pacific Ocean.
It has an area of 18.429,5 km² and approximately 373.712 inhabitants to 2006.
This region comprises Ranco and Valdivia provinces; Valdivia city was considered the regional capital.
The Region of Los Ríos was born after being separated from the former region of Los Lagos when the Law Nº20.174 came into force, on October 2, 2007.
