Chilean Valleys in the First Region

Lluta Valley

Distance: 10 Kilometers away from Arica

A place where the archaeological museum of Molle-Pampa is located. On the hills, there are innumerable petroglyphs of impressive beautifulness.

The access route is by the international highway towards Bolivia.

Azapa Valley

Distance: 13 Kilometers away from Arica

It is located 13 kilometers from Arica. It possesses an area of archaeological remains mainly from the period between 1000 and 1400 B.C.

The zones that have the biggest quantity of buildings and ruins are: Aldea Cerro Sombrero, Geogliphs Alto Ramirez and Pukara San Lorenzo.

It is interesting to visit the Archaeological Museum of San Miguel of Azapa.

This is a famous place because of its size and delicious taste olives. It is an oasis in a full fledged desert.

This valley provides and exports vegetable products during the whole year, especially olives.

Codpa Valley

Distance: 58 Kilometers away from Arica

It is located 58 kilometers from Arica, in the Sierra, at an altitude of 2.050 meters over the sea level.

A narrow valley in the pre-mountain range, devoted to the agriculture of fruit trees and some vineyard.

It is very popular thanks to its area of fruit production: guavas, citrus, tunas, quinces and grapes.

The valley is surrounded by petroglyphs. It is interesting to visit the Church of San Martin and the Chapel.
