Tourism in the City of Temuco

Distance: 677 Kilometers away from Santiago
Main Activity: Tourism, Commerce, Agriculture and Cattle Raising

It is considered the capital of the ninth region of Araucania. It comprehends most of the administrative and commercial activities of the region.

It is covers a region from "La Isla de Tierra" to the territory of the Mapuches.

This is a city of modern infrastructure that counts with interesting contemporary architecture and varied commercial centers.

It is interesting to visit there the traditional market with several Mapuche handcraftsmanship and an excellent native gastronomy.

Mapuche Territory Circuit - Tour

It is located 35 kilometers from Temuco. The tour starts on the road to Mollulco. After 4 kilometers, you will see a Mapuche Reservoir, a community mostly conformed by family clans. The region is formed by small pieces of land connected to each other.

The ground is flat with hardly growing grass. It has no divisions, except some rows of bushes that enclose the wheat fields. You can see cows and sheep, kept by shepherds called "Living fences" (this is considered a men’s labor).

You can also see some cemeteries and crops in the way.

The road continues directly to Molluco, A small town. Then, the way turns to the left towards the Labranza Station, from where, you can take the paved route back to Temuco.

Recommendations: Minimize the cultural impact of your visit. Be respectful with the local history and values and ask for inhabitants` permission to take any picture.
