San Fernando is located near the Pan-American Highway and has 42,684 residents. It was founded in 1742 like as Villa San Fernando de Tinguiririca. It has the character of service for the agricultural zone that surrounds it. It is located about 141 km. of Santiago de Chile. By the surroundings, will be able to know Hacienda Los Lingues, where old objects are conserved and a chapel too.
It is the second most important city of this Region. It is also an important agricultural,
fruit growing center.

Church and Cluster San Francisco de San Fernando
This National Monument overcomes its origins at 1744 when Jesuit missionaries build their misional house. In 1755 begins a new church of greater dimension. Finally, in 1891 the old building is demolished and the construction of the present one is begun.
It is compound of three separated areas by two arcades that limit the central area of 8 meters of wide, other two lateral areas of 4 meters wide that constitutes the circulation spaces which they finish in individual altars and a tower of 32 meters high.

Volcán Palomo
Palomo Vulcano (4850 msnm.) The name comes from the form that their glaciers, similar to the wings of a dove.
This dull volcano is located in the heart of the mountains of the Sixth Region; from their slopes born four glaciers that conform the most extensive zone of ice in Central Chile. Towards the north of its summit, the Glaciar Palomo Norte runs, towards the west from their slopes the ice are offed-hook that will form the Glaciar Cipreses and towards the south of the volcanic cone and having been born from their same summit, is located a great ice plateau known as Gran Plateau with an extension of about 4 kilometers wide and about 7 of length.
This extensive ice plain feeds the Cortaderal Glaciar mostly, that offs-hook very steeply towards the west and soon turns towards the north. In the South center of this frozen plain a flood of ice takes place that goes towards the south, forming one of the most extensive Glaciers of the center of Chile, Glaciar Universidad of about 12 kilometers of length.
Palomo Volcano dominates one of the most beautiful mountainous zones of Chile, la Sierra del Brujo.
Although the hill has access by its four glaciers, the most known routes are through Glaciar Universidad, to which can be acceded by the route that join San Fernando with las Termas del Flaco, and going to the North following the course of the Azufre primero River and San José, until arriving at the front from the Glaciar Universidad. The other route is by Glaciar Cipreses in Reserva Nacional Río Cipreses.
