Tourism in Puerto Montt city

A spot of connection for the Eleventh and Twelfth Regions. Since 1985 Puerto Montt became a business center for the production of Salmon.

Originally this place was covered by a dense jungle. Since 1851 it started to be settled from Chiloe.

In 1852 the first German settlers arrived by sea.

The transition from town to city was slow. Until 1912, with the opening of the railroad from Puerto Montt-Santiago the city grew rapidly. It turned into an exit part to the territories of Chiloé, Aisén and Magallanes.

Currently the city counts with good hotel and tourist intrasture.

Among its most important beaches are: the Pelluco, Metri, Chinchihue, Piedra Azul and Coihuen beaches. Besides the small bays of Anahuac Angelmo and Piche Pelloco.

Balneario Pelluco. It has hotels and restaurants specialized in curantos. It is located at 3 km from Puerto Montt.

Angelmo. Started as a little part in the late 19th century. It is interesting to visit the famous handicraft fair of Angelmó and the shellfish market.
Among the attractinesses of Angelmó are:
- The ship and ferry port (which go to the south of Chiloé, Aisén, Laguna San Rafael and Puerto Natales).
- Puerto de Las Islas. (Boats and sailboats go to the isalnds of the heart of Reloncavi and the archipélago of Chiloé)

Calbuco. A town founded in 1602. It is 250 years older than Puerto Montt. A typical Chilote boat has been finished in the port with capacity for 10 passangers for trips around the bay. Fishing permit, Eulogio Goycolea s/n, Telf: 461537.

Hornopiren. A town located at the foot of the volcanoe Hornopirén. It has a simple tourist and hotel infrasture(camping area and restaurant).
From Hornopirén there are towns and visits to the national park Hornopiren, uphill hikes to the volcanoe and hikes around Lake Cabrera. There are good sport fishing opportunities at the rivers Cuchildeo, Negro, Blanco and Cholgo.
It is interesting to visit: Termas de Llancahue. Parque National Hornopirén. Fiordo Coman. Termas de Cahuelmo.

Pass to San Carlos of Bariloche


This pass crosses the National Parks Puyehue(Chile) and Nahuel Huapi (Argentina).

248 kilometers track from Osorno and 151 kilometers paved road from the Complejo Fronterizo Cardenal Antonio Samore.

Complejo Fronterizo Cardenal Antonio Samore. Located at 97 kilometers, paned-road, from Osorno in the midst of the native jungle. It has tall service and a coffee shop.

Shedules: from May 1st to the second saturday of October from 9:00 to 19:00. Rest of the year from 8:00 to 21:00.
