A small cattle-holder city. From Punta Arenas to Porvenir it is a 3 hour navegation journey for vehicles and passangers. Departure from Tres Puentes.

During the navegation, choose rather not a rainny day to have a better sight of Punta Arenas and the coasts of the Magallanes Strait.

Capital of the province of Tierra de Fuego. This small city with a number of inhabitants that is short of 7,000 constituted mainly by the descendants of the Yugoslavs that settled the place towards the end of the Nineteen Century, attracted mainly by the extraction of gold.

Leaving Porvenir one can go over the island of Tierra del Fuego, a place discovered by Hernando Magallanes, who gave it this name due to the bonfires of the "onas" Indians who would light its coasts.

It is interesting to visit the Marine Weirs, formed by stones of different sizes that are covered by high tides and on descending they leave kingfishes and basses trapped all along.
