Chilean Populations in the Twelveth Region

Puerto Williams Town

This is the Capital of the Chilean Antarctic province and it is also a naval quarter.

It is interesting to visit here: the Martin Gusinde Museum (named in honor of the famous anthropologist and priest) which holds the history of the Yaganse culture through samples of natural resources.

Punta Dungenes Town

Distance: 272 Kilometers away from Punta Arenas

It is the last point of Continental part of Chile. Here, in the Straight of Magallanes, the first city, called "Name of Jesus", was founded. There is an old beacon, famous for sailors all over the world, and a cemetery. The principal activity of the community is cattle bearing. The town is surrounded by farm houses.

Rio Verde Town

Distance: 87 Kilometers away from Punta Arenas

Rio Verde is a community whose principal activity is cattle bearing. The town is surrounded by farm houses.

It is interesting to visit: the Fitz Roy Channel and The Seno Otway and Green Rivers (places of incomparable natural beauty). Departing from the Green River by ferry, it is possible to arrive to the Riesco Island. Leaving Punta Arenas, it is possible to arrive to Chabunco in a few hours; this is a place for fishing and it counts with several camping fields.

30 kilometers from the city, you will find a detour that leads to one of the most famous cattle - bearing settlements of the zone: "Kon-Aiken" where annual shearing festivities are carried out.

It is interesting to visit the Green River and the San Gregorio country houses too.
