Chaiten Town

It is the capital of the province of Palena that is situated in the region of Los Lagos. It counts with good communications with the rest of the regions through an aerodrome and a port which allow the arrival of ferries and boats from Chonchi and Chiloe.

It comprises the southern region of the Chiloe Island.

Quellon is considered the main port of the Chiloe Island. It receives the entire shellfish production from the south of the island.

The Panamerican highway ends up in this port and the ferries and boats depart towards Aisen in the Eleventh Region.
