Chilean Populations in the First Region

Socoroma Town

It is a little village of around 130 inhabitants of pre-columbine origins.

It is located at an altitude of 3060 meters over the sea level.

It also was one of the towns seized by the Spaniards in charge of the traffic between Arica and Potosí.

It is interesting to visit the church of San Francisco that was built in 1560.

Belen Town

It is a little town of around 140 inhabitants of colonial origin; was the only town of the Chilean high plateau that was founded by the Spanish in 1625.

It is located at an altitude of 3240 meters over the sea level.

It is interesting to visit the church of Belen.

Pica Town

Distance: 120 Kilometers away from Iquique

It is located 120 kilometers from Iquique. A town of pre-Hispanic origin placed at the foot of the mountain, 1325 meters over the sea level.

It presents a natural fruit oasis where there are beautiful fountains which water the plantations of grapefruit, mango, orange, lemon, lime, and guava trees.

Some people believe that Pica laid on an Inca Trail.

It is interesting to visit the natural spa of Cocha Resbaladero, the church of San Andres and the Thermal waters of Mamiña.
