The presence of the Rupestrian Art brings back memories of the Tiwanaku Culture, especially thanks to its hieroglyphs called “Atacama Giant”, which are located 84 km to the Northeast of Iquique.
In the Andean Altiplano (High Plateau), there are Aymara and Atacama communities, which still preserve their ancestral customs dedicated to the cultivation of quinoa and the breeding of camelids that live with the flamencos. In the Isluga Volcano National Park, we can see the high snow- capped peaks, the Aimaras’ ceremonial hills, wide plateaus, native vegetation, lagoons, rivers, and wetlands with a rich bird life and awesome geysers.

The Oficina Salitrera Santa Laura, located 48 kilometers from Iquique, keeps the remains of an industrial structure where part of the process of elaboration of saltpeter in the shanks system was carried out.
In the house of Administration, there is an exhibition of a collection of historical objects related to the daily life and chores in the saltpeter mines.

Commerce Schedule: From Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 21:00. Saturday: 9:30 to 13:30.
