Second Region of Chile

Antofagasta: Capital of the Second Region of Atacama
Distance: 1,361 kilometers away from Santiago
Main Activity: A Cultural and Economical Center

This region is dominated by the vast Atacama Desert, one of the driest places in the world. Among some other attractions, it is possible to mention the deserted valleys and the Andean altiplano.

It comprises the coast border that stretches out from Mejillones (in the north) to Taltal (in the south). This coast presents beautiful landscapes.
