Tourism in the Cave of the Milodon

Distance: 24 Kilometers away from Puerto Natales

The Cave of the Milodon is a natural monument formed by three caverns and a rocky conglomerate called "Silla del Diablo". The scientific interest in the place is given by the finding of skins and bones of an extinct animal: the MILODON (Mylodon Darwini) in 1896; this animal was an herbivore of great dimensions.

Apart from its historical, scientific and cultural importance, the Cave of Milodon offers an additional attraction: its landscape and natural life. The zone represents a transition between the steppe and the wood. Animal life is abundant, mainly birds, as well as the typical flora.
