Coihaique, a city founded in 1929 to support the urban settlers. Currently it is the capital
of the XI region.
A region with infinite variety of geographical, botanical and zoological aspects.
It has an island part with a great number of islands covered with heavy vegetation
and a heavy rainfall (as heavy as 3,800 millimeters annually in some places).
It is a continental zone crossed across by immense traversing valleys through
which get in plentiful rivers and the Andean part with major glaziers that release
from vast camps where ices formed thousands of years ago deposit. In this region
there are territories not yet explored by men.

Puerto Chacabuco. An active and prospering port that surpassed Puerto Aisen due to being
the ferry terminal and port for bigger ships.
For hostage there is the hotel Loberia del Sur. From Chacabuco there are different boats to
the lagoon San Rafael.
Puerto Aisen. Considered the leader of the insular territory. It has all basic
services, accomodations and restaurant.
Balmaceda. Located near Argentina. It became the first town of Aisen. Currently it
has an international airport and the border customs office of Paso Huemules.
Lago General Carrera. A 280 kilometers round trip (98 kilometers paved) from the
city of Coihaique. A deep blue lake with unique landscape.
To the side of Argentina, its shore is flat (it is the beginning of the Pampa that goes all
the way to the Atlantic). In Chile Chico and Puerto Ibañea, Chilean part, mountains of
rounded shapes due to glacier erosion rise, without any vegetation.
Cochrane. Capital of the province and the last town crossed by the Southern Road. It
is considered the center for aereal service to the inner lakes and the coast.
It is interesting to visit: Rio and Salto del Baker. Campo de Hielo Norte. Villa O`Higgins
Caleta Tortel. A small town located at the mouth of the river Baker, the largest
and most plentiful river of Chile. In an estuary of fiords and cannals, between Campo de
Hielo Norte and South.
It is interesting to visit: Ventisquero Jorge Montt. Isla de los Muertos
