It is the capital of the Nuble province, and it is located on an extence plain that
lies in the Central Valley surrounded to the East by the imposing Andes Mountains
Range and to the West by the Coastline Mountain Range.
Chillan is known as the city of the four foundations due to the attacks of the
natives and nature disasters that forced the people to rebuilt it and change
its location.
To the south is Chillan Viejo, an old city (1751) that has a unique history of
destructions and removals.

Fair of Chillan. Considered one of the richest handdicrafts fairs of Chile, with
pottery, weaving, baskets, corvings on wood and chupallas.
Salto de Laja. Located 70 kn south of Chillan. An arch-like waterfall of great
height, from the river Laja. This natural beauty can be seen from the bridge on
the road. By the southern riverbank is the hotel and hotel and hostel Salto de Laja.
