Castles in Viņa del Mar
Brunet Castle
It is located on Iberia Street 104. It is a work of Alfredo Azancot. This castle has features similar to the medieval architecture with romantic style - gothic period in France.
Since 1974, it was acquired by Policemen of Chile and then was named Palacio de Carabineros de Viña del Mar (Policemen’s Palace of Viña del Mar), destined to Official Residence of distinguished visitors and used for special social receptions.
It was a project of the marine architect don Jorge Schroeder Espinoza who- although was born in Talcahuano (1895) - carried out its professional activity in the region. He died in 1939; the next year, his heirs decided to sell the rough work of this castle to don Nicolás Yarur, who entrusted the completion of each detail to Jorge Schroeders architect.
The visits have to be arranged with the building administrator.
The Municipal Council of Viña del Mar declared it as historical and architectonic construction on Tuesday 9, May of 2000.
Wulff Castle
It is located on Marina Avenue (s/n). This castle history dates back to 1880 approximately. In this epoch Teodoro Von Schroeders, owner of the sector of Cerro Castillo, changed the Miramar beach into an attraction place.
In 1919, the Castle suffered the first transformation, its owner decided to install the adjacent tower to the sea, and connected it with the rest of the building through a glass bridge, where it is possible to see how the waves collide with the seashore rocks.
Then, in 1959, the Municipality of Viña del Mar acquired the castle. The museum was inaugurated in the same place on September 17, 1960.
The Municipal Council of Viña del Mar approved this Project as historical and architectonic construction on May, Tuesday 9 of 2000.
Ross Castle
It is placed on Marina Avenue 50. This castle dates back to 1912 and was designed by Cruz Montt architect, with a Tudor style. It has an outstanding work in its stone execution. It is pointed that it is a replica of a Scottish residence, type castle, built in XIX.
After that, in 1967, the building was acquired by the Arabian estate agency. Nowadays, the Union Arabe Club functions in this place.
The Municipal Council of Viña del Mar declared it as historic and architectonic construction on Tuesday May 9 of 2000.
