Tourism in English Bay

Distance: 5 kilometers away from Caldera

This is a bay which is located 105 kilometers from Copiapo and 5 kilometers from Caldera. It was known as “English Part” after the English corsair Edward Davis` ship landed there in 1687.

This place is very popular because of its white sand beaches and warm waters. The bay has a great variety of lodgings like cabins, motels, camping sides and houses, especially, during the summer season.

It is interesting to visit there: La Piscina, Las Machas, Rocas Negras, the Morro, Blanca and the Chuncho beaches.

In the north side of the bay, Piscina beach stands out, enclosed by rocks; this space is appropriate for swimming.

You can get to Bahía Inglesa from Santiago to Copiapo by plane, public transport or car. The journey by plane from Santiago takes 1 hr and 15 minutes; also, you can reach Caldera by road, 75 km from Copiapo.

If you are traveling by car from Copiapo to Bahía Inglesa, you can go along the Panamericana highway, in there; you will find a turn off (about 66 km) which you need to take (6 km) until you reach the resort.

This beach is located 4 km to the south of Bahía Inglesa. It is suitable for swimming and fishing.

Playa Las Machas:
It is located 7 km to the south of Caldera in Bahía Inglesa. It is suitable for swimming, water sports and fishing.

Playa La Piscina:
This beach is located 6 km to the south of Caldera in Bahía Inglesa. It is suitable for swimming and water sports.
