ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF SAN MIGUEL DE AZAPA

This museum keeps one of the most important archaeological and anthropological native heritages of Chile; it shows the evidence of a cultural development of more than 10.000 years of history.

Outside the museum, there is a park of petroglyphs, and inside it, there is a chronological exhibition that goes from the pre Chinchorro hunters and fishermen ages (the mummies of this culture are the oldest in the world) to the current Aimara shepherds.

HOW TO GET THERE

ACCESS:
The starting point is Colón Square; from there you can take the San Marcos Street and turn to the north by Maximo Lira, then continuing through the Costanera Chilena Avenue up to the Diego Portales Avenue where you have to turn to the East. You can continue straight ahead until you get to the Azapa roundabout, here, the main road to the valley starts in the route A-27. When you arrive to the Km 12, turn to the north and, after a few meters, you will find the access to the museum.
